This update contains bug fixes for any possible malfunction of the scroll wheel and volume indicator, as well as
minor application bug fixes.
Please note that this software update is only for the European AVIC-S2 model. Please do not apply it to
another regional version. Updates to the Russian AVIC-S2 model are available on our Russian website.
Before you start, make sure that you have installed Pioneer Sync Manager from the DVD-ROM that was supplied
with your device.
During the update process, you should not disconnect the USB cable, turn off the device, enter into standby
mode, or reset the unit or shut down the computer, enter the computer into stand-by mode or restart the
computer.
1. Update USB driver.
Please run the USB driver update before the navigation software update.
Download “Pioneer_AVICS2_USBDRIVER.zip” from the link above.
Close all running programs on your computer, and extract the downloaded file.
Turn OFF and ON your AVIC-S2 by slide switch on the rear panel.
Connect AVIC-S2 to PC using the supplied USB cable. Wait until your computer has detected your device.
When you connect your device to the PC, in most cases ActiveSync will start automatically and will ask you
to set-up a partnership. Please select "No" if this happens.
Run “Installdriver.exe” which you have extracted from downloaded file.
Please click OK to the message window to ensure the USB connection, as below:
When the update is completed, you'll see this message on your computer:
2. Update navigation software.
You can find your serial number on the back of your AVIC-S2, underneath the barcode.
If the serial number ends with the letters "EW": Download Pioneer_AVICS2 200708EW.zip
If the serial number ends with the letters "RE": Download Pioneer_AVICS2 200708RE.zip
Close all running programs on your computer, and extract the downloaded file.
Turn OFF and ON your AVIC-S2 by slide switch on the rear panel.
Connect AVIC-S2 to PC using the supplied USB cable. Wait until your computer has detected your device.
When you connect your device to the PC, in most cases ActiveSync will start automatically and will ask you
to set-up a partnership. Please select "No" if this happens.
Run “Setup.exe” which is found in the folder you have extracted from downloaded file.
Select your language from the menu.
Select “Upgrade/Restore application” from the menu. The update process will start automatically.
When the update is completed, you'll see this message on your computer:
Please disconnect AVIC-S2 from USB cable.
Your AVIC-S2 is now ready to use.
